Getting Started with LiveCode - Experienced Developers • Questions About LiveCode Create

Since there is not really a recent video of Create showing the progress as to its latest iteration dp-5 and there is no way to preview it, I thought it best to start a topic on this forum for those trying to get a grasp on what Create can do. I'll start with a few questions of my own:

1) Create dp-5 uses the same engine as Classic now. It also allows Create extensions to be used in Classic, as the notes for the release state. What about vice-versa? Would extensions found in Classic work in Create?

2) Deployment to mobile. Can Create dp-5 currently deploy to android and ios devices? Can the app be placed on Google Play and the Apple Store today and to all devices, respectively?

3) Native controls for mobile. Would things like mobilecontrolcreate, mobilecontrolset, mobilecontrolget and mobilecontroldo work (text-inputs, scrollers, time and date) if I deployed to android or ios using Create?

4) Push notifications for mobile. Would these work with android and ios using Create?

5) Where are user records stored? What type of records can be stored'? Can images be stored? PDFs? Is cloud storage extra? How much space do you get?

I would also strongly recommend not requiring free apps display a badge "Made with LiveCode – Not for Commercial Use," or at a minimum, have an option to pay to have it removed. I understand the reasoning behind it, but anyone who is looking to develop apps that sees this badge will immediately think, "well I certainly don't want to develop an app with a coding language that puts this badge on every card of my app." So it is, in my opinion, self-defeating and would makes the app look unnecessarily cheap, when it otherwise may look very professional. What I would do instead is require the badge to be displayed once on a splash screen or at the bottom of a login or home screen. I think that is a more palatable solution.
